ITTF set up world table tennis company to launch a new competition structure

The ITTF has decided to establish WTT world table tennis company to manage the business and event assets of ITTF from 2021 and launch a new event structure including grand slam and WTT series.

Xinhua news agency, Beijing, March 3 (Xinhua) – the ITTF decided to set up WTT world table tennis company to manage the business and event assets of the ITTF from 2021 and launch a new event structure including grand slam and WTT series.

It is reported that there are four Grand Slam events every year, with 10 days for each event. The bonus of each event is as high as 3 million US dollars. There are 64 top athletes for men and women. WTT series includes championship, world cup, star challenge and general challenge, with a total bonus of US $8 million, providing sufficient opportunities for all professional players.

ITTF said that the new competition structure will have a positive impact in many aspects, including more competition opportunities, independent women’s events and innovative venues, while world-class TV production can also bring excellent experience for fans around the world.

Thomas vickett, President of ITTF, said he hoped to improve players’ satisfaction with the prize money and operation of the competition, and to reinvest in the member associations through the promotion of income to better support them.
